International Justice Day petition submitted 17th July 2010
On the occassion of International Justice Day on 17th July 2010, Youth Action Nepal and INSEC Palpa jointly submitted a petition to ratify thei International Criminal Court (view this document under the downloads section).
 
Study Session on Human Rights and Democracy 21 - 26th April 2010
Youth Action Nepal (YOAC) invites applicants to attend the Study Session program on Human Rights, Democracy and National Constitution from April 21-26, 2010 in Kathmandu. New Friends of Youth Action (FOYA) committee elected 31st March 2010

Interesting for youth residing in Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Nepal, Serbia or Uganda - YOUTH FRIENDLY GRANT call!
____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ ___ Open Society Institute opened a call for youth projects in above mentioned countries (max budget is set at 12000 USD). Applicants need to be between 15-29 and have an NGO to provide logistical support to them, but not to applying a project in the name of youth (meaning it need to be youth lead, youth initiated and written by youth).

Appeal for Humanitarian Help (Koshi flood victims) URGENTLY NEEDED
As we all know that our country is in deep sorrow because more than 50,000 people have been rendered homeless and several have gone missing since the Saptakoshi River damaged two dam spurs and flooded human settlements in Sunsari. The victims are prayerful for the help.
In this context regarding relief work, K and K College has decided to act for collecting relief measures (cash, food articles, medicines, clothes and other essential items) from K and K College and some networking organizations. "K and K Flood Relief Committee" has been set up under the chairmanship of Mr Suman Prasad Shrestha, Principal of K and K College along with 15 Relief Committee Members. The team will visit the affected areas and distribute the collected relief materials soon.
We would like to appeal for humanitarian help of all well wishers, different national and international organizations, students, journalists, civil society members and all Nepalis. It is the time to join hands to overcome the national calamity with your contributions. There the people are expecting meaningful initiation from anyone and certainly your contribution will be a boon for the howling mouths. We do expect your contributions in terms of cash, food stuffs, cloths, medicines and other stuffs.

Women Right Campaigners arrested by police from a peaceful protest 3 August 2008, Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu
Four of the friends from YOAC have been arrested today by police along with other 50 women right activists while they were demanding a strong commitment from the state to end all forms of violence against women and the fair investigation of the murder case of Women Human Right defender Ms Laxmi Bohara. The campaigners were in a peaceful relay hunger sit in protest from about a month at Maitighar Mandala.
The women activists of YOAC arrested are Ms Rupa Uprety, Ms Sanjita Timsina, Ms Pratima Bhattarai and Ms Jamuna Sharma.
 
Nepal becomes a federal democratic republic 28 May, 2008
The historic first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) has endorsed a proposal to amend the interim constitution implementing the declaration of Nepal as a federal democratic republic. The officiating chairman of the CA, Kul Bahadur Gurung said that of the 564 CA members who took part in the voting on the proposal, 560 voted in its favour while four members voted against it. The motion for implementing the republic declaration was introduced by the government. Home Minister Krishna Sitaula introduced the proposal as per the Article 159 of the Interim Constitution, which was put for voting. Following the voting result, the CA also approved a proposal stating that the King should vacate the Narayanhity royal palace within 15 days. The proposal states that the King will lose all perks and privileges except his rights as a common citizen. The Narayanhity royal palace will be turned into a national museum or used in national interest as deemed necessary by the government, the proposal adds. The CA meeting had started after 9 pm on Wednesday night at Birendra International Convention Center (BICC).
